Andy Murray Announces Retirement from Wimbledon Singles

Murray to Bid Farewell in Doubles

Decision Comes After Recent Spinal Surgery

Andy Murray, the two-time Wimbledon champion, has announced that he will not participate in the singles competition at this year's tournament. The decision comes after Murray underwent surgery for a spinal cyst on Saturday.

Murray, who is currently ranked 103rd in the world, said in a statement that he will focus on the doubles competition at Wimbledon, alongside older brother Jamie. He will also compete in the mixed doubles with Serena Williams.

"I'm really disappointed not to be able to play in the singles this year, but I'm going to make sure I'm ready to go for the doubles and mixed doubles," Murray said.

Murray's withdrawal from the singles competition marks a significant moment in his career. The 35-year-old has been battling a hip injury in recent years, and his appearance at Wimbledon was expected to be his final singles tournament.
