Celtics Stifle Mavs in Game 1

Porzingis' Performance Key to Victory

The Boston Celtics put on a defensive clinic in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals, stifling the Dallas Mavericks and taking an early lead in the best-of-seven series. The Celtics held the Mavericks to just 85 points, a season-low for Dallas, and forced 18 turnovers.

Kristaps Porzingis led the way for the Mavericks with 25 points and 12 rebounds, but he was the only Dallas player to score more than 15 points. The Celtics, meanwhile, had five players score in double figures, led by Jayson Tatum's 23 points.

The Mavericks will look to even the series when Game 2 tips off on Sunday night.
